For me, and every addict/alcoholic I've ever known, putting that first one down on the table is the HARDEST. I think maybe you misunderstood what I was saying earlier about that. If we COULD put the first one on the table, we would NOT be alcoholics/addicts. And KNOWING how bad alcohol/drugs are has nothing to do with it. I'm not bragging, but I'm a very intelligent person. I've known since I was about 6 that these things were bad, and could ruin a person's life. And every time I got that first drink in hand, or sparked the first joint of the day, or whatever my current passion was, I'd tell myself what I was about to do was bad, stupid, wrong, etc. But it NEVER stopped me, because I could always rationalize, or delude myself into thinking "TOMORROW I won't do this". That's what makes it such a deadly disease; it completely warps your thinking, no matter if you're the village idiot or Albert Einstein.
